Polish Tatras, PolandExplore Poland’s Art and Museums
Soak up the culture of Poland, which is a colorful mixture of Eastern and Western European influences, in some of the country’s most notable museums. The museums’ collections are vast and note-worthy, although experts believe that a huge chunk of the valuable items were destroyed during World War II, when most areas where collections were stored were almost completely destroyed.
Some of the most notable museums and galleries in the country are:
National Museum – Located in Warsaw, this museum is home to some of the most valuable works of art and paintings in the country, ranging from those dating back to centuries ago up to modern works of art.
Carroll Porczyński Collection Museum – home to the country’s most extensive private art collection; it boasts of paintings and various works of art by notable artists such as van Gogh, Goya, Rubens, Renoir and countless others.
Museum of the Polish Army – showcases the history of weapons and arms.
Zacheta National Gallery of Art – showcases exhibitions that features modern art by both Polish and international artists; the museum is also the oldest exhibition site in the city of Warsaw.
Works of art in Poland have (understandably) a very strong European flavor, and have evolved quite beautifully during recent years. The unique characteristics of the artworks can be seen in various museums and galleries throughout the country, with the addition of fascinating modern Polish art pieces to make things even more interesting.
Wonderful Music
The music of Poland is as colorful as its heritage and culture, and it seems that almost every genre is covered with the variety of artists in this country. The classical pieces of Chopin never fail to move even the most seasoned of music lovers, while folk musicians give a different vibe to the local music scene. It should also be noted that rock and hip hop music seem to have a bigger following in Poland compared to pop music, so don’t be surprised if you hear the latest hip hop and rock music coming from most homes and establishments in the country.
